Traffic agent caught on video asking tourists for a “kickback” in Puerto Vallarta

A video recorded by tourists in Puerto Vallarta shows the moment in which a traffic agent asks them for money to “pay them a visit” and avoid a fine. The tourists recorded the exchange while the agent was negotiating the amount of the bribe.

In the recording, the agent is seen in a patrol car, the tourists ask the amount to pay to be able to leave, and she asks them for 3 thousand pesos. Faced with the tourists’ insistence that they do not have the amount, the agent finally accepts two thousand pesos.

What was the exchange between the agent and the tourists?

In the video fragment (minute 0:32), the agent mentions: “Now, yes, to pay us a visit because what you are telling us is normal, but to pay us a visit -with three- I’ll get you two pesos right now, we really have it -throw them away before I change my mind.”

The recording has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for sanctions for the agent involved. However, so far, the exact date on which this video was recorded has not been confirmed, nor the identity of the officer.
