Government Expropriates Land for Mayan Train in Calakmul

The federal government, through the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu), has published a decree in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) announcing the expropriation of an area of less than one hectare in the municipality of Calakmul, Campeche. This expropriation is for public utility purposes in favor of Fonatur Tren Maya, S.A. de C.V., to allocate the land for the construction of railway infrastructure, the operation of the Mayan Train Project, and its complementary works.

The expropriated area consists of 0.7015 hectares of the Constitution ejido. Of this total, 0.1405 hectares are for parceled (individual) use, and 0.5610 hectares are for common use.

Fonatur Tren Maya, S.A. de C.V. will pay compensation for the expropriated land amounting to 162,760.59 pesos, as indicated in the appraisal issued by the Institute of Administration and Appraisal of National Assets (Indaabin).
