The investment, the company detailed, is destined for the production of a new generation of the Tacoma pick-up and the electric hybrid Tacoma.
The sum by the end of 2024 will have allowed the creation of more than 1,600 new jobs in the manufacturing plants in Baja California and Guanajuato.
“With this investment, which adds to the nearly 2 billion dollars that the company has invested during 22 years of presence in Mexico, Toyota strengthens its productive capacity, including the manufacture of electrified vehicles,” the company highlighted.
It added that the modernization of the plants for the production of the new generation of Tacoma will not only promote the production of more efficient and sustainable vehicles, but will also allow the integration of innovations that will optimize the consumption of resources and promote the reduction of CO2 emissions.
