71 migrants from Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia and Africa rescued in Oaxaca

The State Investigation Agency (AEI), in collaboration with the Navy (Semar), State Police and the National Guard (GN), rescued 71 migrants from Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Africa and Colombia who were kidnapped in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, confirmed the Attorney General of Oaxaca.

During a search, two people were arrested and 71 migrants of different nationalities were rescued, including 19 minors.

The joint action that was carried out in a coordinated manner with forces from the three levels of government, allowed the operation to be carried out on November 7, 2024, in a private home located in the Gustavo Pineda de la Cruz neighborhood, in the municipality of Juchitán de Zaragoza.

As a result of the court order, 71 migrants were released, of which 25 are of Venezuelan origin, 7 from Colombia, 1 from Chile, 3 from Honduras, 1 from El Salvador, 1 from Peru, 32 from Ecuador and 1 from the African continent, who were deprived of their freedom.

After being rescued, the support of the National Institute of Migration (INM) was requested for their protection and transfer to be medically evaluated in order to determine their state of health.

During these same actions, two people were arrested, a man identified as V.M.A.M., 36 years old, and a woman identified as F.L.J.A., 42 years old, both of foreign origin, who were presumably in charge of caring for the migrants and making phone calls to their relatives in which they demanded the payment of a large sum of money as payment for their rescue.

The Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office reported the following data on the rescued migrants: Robinson J.H., 45 years old; Luis Alfredo G.P., 38 years old; José Ovidio G.M., 44 years old; Junior José V.S., 28 years old, Jordi Joan D.B., 28 years old; Ramón José R.A., 34 years old and Karliani Paola V.V., 45 years old, all of them from Venezuela.

As well as Carlos Alberto H.V., 59 years old; Mario Israel A.J., 22 years old; Evin Mavian O.C., 36 years old; Angel Luzmila H.D., 35 years old; Alber Josué B.H., 9 years old and Oscar Osmar R.D., 35 years old, all also from Venezuela.

Also from Venezuela with Paola Dayana B.G., 33 years old; Angeli Yasinit R.M., 24 years old; Danyeli Soneidy R.M., 22 years old; Darwin José P.G., 20 years old; Ambar Jeanmair R.A., 22 years old; Reyniel Josué H.Q., 23 years old; Edwin Edier E.R., 6 years old; Alexandra P.P., 65 years old; Abelardo C., 68 years old; Thais Jarianis C.G., 39 years old; Andrey Ignacio L.C., 14 years old; Luis A.M., 29 years old.

Emilio Francisco G.G., 50 years old; Yuliana Solange G.V., 23 years old; EMA Sofia G.V., 1 year old; Jose Santiago A.C., 33 years old; Zoila Salome A.A., 46 years old; Wendy Nayeli C.A., 22 years old; Erick Migue C.A., 19 years old; and Ericka Salome M.C., 4 years old.

While from Colombia are Mia V.V., 2 years old; Sandra Patricia M.P., 35 years old; Wilson Antonio V.G., 35 years old; Sawui Dayana V.M., 11 years old; Amber Elay S.R., 4 years old; Diana Marcela G., 26, and Luis Matías A.G., 4, were also rescued.

Also rescued were Wilfredo L.L., 28; Maribel R.R., 38; Jackeline Fabiola L.R., 2; from Honduras; Adrian Jesus J.C., 2, from Chile; Omar Ido P.T., 23, from Africa; Maiha Antonela E.R., 3, from Peru and Carla Yaneth C.O., 29, from El Salvador.
