Just a few hours after the massacre at the Los Cantaritos bar in Querétaro, a new armed attack took place at another bar in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli, in the State of Mexico. Six people were killed and seven injured in the attack against the Bling Bling bar, which occurred early Monday morning in the community of Tepojaco, about 24 kilometers from the border between the capital and the State of Mexico.
According to local press reports, three men and two women died from gunshot wounds, while seven other people were taken to nearby hospitals due to their injuries. According to several messages from users on social networks, the attack was directed at two men who frequented the place.
According to press reports, a group of armed men arrived at the place in two vans to later attack the bar’s customers, in the early hours of Monday. Several members of the State of Mexico’s Public Security Secretariat went to the scene, but so far neither the agency nor the state’s Attorney General’s Office have issued any official communication regarding this attack.
The State of Mexico is another entity that reflects the wave of armed violence in the country. On July 21, Commissioner Milton Morales, head of intelligence for the Mexico City police, was murdered in the municipality of Coacalco. He was the right-hand man of the former chief of police in the capital and current Secretary of Public Security, Omar García Harfuch.
