A new wave of violence swept through Tabasco on Monday, marking a departure from the usual Thursday incidents that have plagued the state since Governor Javier May Rodríguez took office five weeks ago.
Key Incidents
– Executions: Two people were executed on the Villahermosa-Frontera highway in an armed attack recorded by motorists. The highway was subsequently closed near the Ocuiltzapotlán village.
– Vehicle Burnings: Three vehicles were set on fire in the Santo Domingo and Estanzuela neighborhoods in the municipality of Centro, which includes the capital, Villahermosa.
– Tire-Puncture Stations: Social media users reported the installation of tire-puncture stations on the highway to Lima.
– Robberies: Armed men assaulted a grocery store in Sánchez, Centla, and a gas station on the Villahermosa-Jalapa highway.
– Blockades: Access to vehicles was blocked at the Pueblo Nuevo bridge in the direction of Cacao.
Arrests and Additional Incidents
Unofficial sources revealed that the Army and the National Guard arrested individuals responsible for burning cars on the Villahermosa-Frontera highway. These individuals allegedly robbed the gas station located at kilometer 16 on the way to Frontera. Additionally, vehicles were burned in the Las Gaviotas Norte and Manga 1 neighborhoods by armed individuals on motorcycles.
