Three men deprived of their liberty were rescued in Mazatlán

Three men who were deprived of their liberty were rescued in Mazatlán in an operation carried out on Wednesday night in coordination between local authorities and federal forces.

The victims were located in a room under construction, in precarious conditions and with signs of violence in at least two of the cases.

The Vice-Prosecutor of the Southern Zone of Sinaloa, Jesús Arnoldo Serrano Castelo, confirmed that the rescue was carried out after receiving information that allowed the men to be located in a colony of Mazatlán.

Although the name of the place was not specified, Serrano Castelo indicated that the victims were already returned to their families after being interviewed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“A few days ago we participated in the liberation of three victims who were deprived of their liberty in a place. That was in coordination with the federal forces. They were in a construction room, they are men, and two of them had been deprived of their liberty since October; the third was recently, on these dates in November,” explained the Vice-Prosecutor.

Authorities reported that the victims showed signs of violence and some had been beaten during their captivity. However, no arrests were reported during the operation.

Serrano Castelo clarified that the operation was mainly directed by federal forces, who are now working on the corresponding investigations.

“There were no arrests, we only worked on their release. We worked at dawn at the Public Prosecutor’s office, where the interview was conducted with these people and they were then returned to their families,” he explained.
