Animal rights activist and his dog found dead in Huatusco, Veracruz

Luis Higinio Chacón Domínguez, a 35-year-old activist and defender of animal rights, was found dead in the center of Huatusco, Veracruz, in his family’s bakery.

The man’s body was inside the home located on Calle 3, between Avenidas 5 and 7 in Huatusco. Along with Higinio, also known as a baker, one of his dogs was found dead.

Elements of the Municipal Police of Huatusco, in the central mountainous region of Veracruz, guarded the area where the events occurred yesterday Monday.

Ministerial police opened an investigation file and elements of Forensic Services transferred the man’s body to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) to determine the cause of death and to determine if it was a suicide or a violent or provoked death. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Huatusco will be in charge of clarifying the case.

The victim, in addition to being an animal rights activist, worked in the family bakery, was a pastry chef and was a catechist at the church.
