The leader of a criminal group with operations in Querétaro and Guanajuato, identified as Jaime Becerril, alias “Burras Prietas,” was arrested on Sunday, December 1 after the search of five properties used to store weapons, drugs, vehicles and stolen merchandise, reported the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
In the action, the authorities seized 29 vehicles ranging from luxury trucks to fuel tankers, as well as 75 thousand pieces of merchandise stolen in different events.
Aristegui Noticias was able to document that Jaime Becerril had already been arrested by the Federal Police in 2010 for the crime of cargo theft, but later regained his freedom to commit crimes again, without additional data being available on the criminal process he faced.
As a result of intelligence work and field investigations carried out by the Secretariats of National Defense (Defensa) and the Mexican Navy (Semar), the National Guard (GN), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Jaime Becerril was identified as the leader of an independent criminal cell linked to the theft of vehicles and cargo transportation, as well as arms smuggling.
In addition, he was classified as a generator of violence in the states of Querétaro and Guanajuato, so after several weeks of surveillance, five properties were identified that his group used to store and protect stolen merchandise and vehicles.
With the corresponding evidence, a Federal Control Judge authorized the 5 search warrants in both states, which were carried out simultaneously, achieving the capture of Jaime Becerril Delgado, alias “Burras Prietas.”
During the operation, five properties, 29 vehicles, including luxury vehicles and cargo trucks, live cartridges, five magazines of various calibers, four boxes of clonazepam, 39 cell phones, two iPads, four computers and various documents were seized.
In addition, a large quantity of stolen merchandise totaling 75 thousand pieces was located, distributed as follows: 30,000 sandwich makers, 1,200 cell phone cases, 450 sheets of drywall, 31,000 candles, 840 packages of agave honey, 480 hand sanitizers, cleaning products and household appliances, among other objects.
Additionally, five migrants were rescued: two women (one Guatemalan and one Venezuelan), two Venezuelan men and a four-year-old child of Venezuelan nationality. All were transferred to the National Migration Institute in Querétaro to resolve their legal situation.
70 fighting cocks, a donkey, five chickens and three dogs were also seized on the raided premises.
The head of the SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, considered that this capture will help reduce crime rates in both states.
