Empty shops, ticket offices without lines and a Mass Forum with practically no attendees on the first weekend of the Chiapas Fair 2024, which is held from November 29 to December 8. The start was far from the expectations that usually accompany this traditional event.
This weekend, the lineup included the presentation of artists such as El Costeño, Grupo Cañaveral and Banda Los Sebastianes at the Mass Forum. However, the public was scarce, making evident the lack of interest of the citizens.
The official inauguration was in charge of the Secretary of Tourism, Katyna de la Vega Grajales, and the president of the Board of Trustees of the Fair, Manuel Pariente Gavito. In addition, the XL National Exhibition of Zebu Cattle was held, one of the traditional events of this annual meeting.
The absence of the traditional Palenque de Gallos, one of the main attractions of the event in previous years, has generated criticism and discontent among attendees. Despite the already announced lineup, which includes popular artists such as Banda Los Sebastianes, Los Ángeles Azules and Panteón Rococó, public interest seems to have been lower than expected.
