Violence continues in the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, according to residents of the Santa Cruz La Almolonga neighborhood, on the south-east side of San Cristóbal de las Casas. They said that a young woman from the State of Yucatán was assaulted and then sexually abused by unknown individuals. Minutes later they fled, while the victim was taken to a hospital in the city to receive medical attention. She has already filed a formal complaint, and local police officers showed up at the scene to assist her.
According to the complaint from residents of the Santa Cruz La Almolonga neighborhood, they said that yesterday, Sunday, December 1, a young woman from the State of Yucatán was assaulted and then sexually assaulted in her home in the aforementioned neighborhood. The young woman was in shock, so she was helped by neighbors. The Municipal Police then showed up and she was taken to the women’s justice center, where she was assisted by a group of women from this department, and an investigation file was opened.
Yayeli “N” is the name of the victim, who said that it was allegedly two men wearing balaclavas who sexually abused the young woman a few minutes later. Although the municipal elements implemented an operation, they found nothing, and as of Monday morning the whereabouts of the aggressors are unknown.
The victim filed a formal complaint with this corresponding agency for investigation. The neighbors said that the patrols carried out by the uniformed officers are useless, because they do not realize what is happening in the city. Meanwhile, they demand greater security in the Jovel valley.
