In a stunning turn of events, a man who brutally murdered his estranged girlfriend at a cemetery in front of her two children has been apprehended after evading justice for three and a half years. Benjamin Robert Williams, also known as “Bambi,” was taken into custody by authorities in Mexico, following a tip from an anonymous individual who watched a TikTok video featuring a local news story about the crime.

Williams, 41, is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse for the July 31, 2021, shooting death of Joana Peca at a St. Petersburg, Florida cemetery. The victim’s infant son was in the van with her when she was shot multiple times in the face.

According to police reports, Williams had convinced Peca to meet him at the cemetery under the guise of seeing their baby. However, after she arrived and sat in the van with their child, he allegedly shot her and killed her while their other child was in the backseat.

The investigation, led by the St. Petersburg Police Department, involved multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the ATF, who offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to Williams’ capture. He was also featured on the TV show “In Pursuit with John Walsh” in 2022.

However, it was a TikTok user who finally provided the crucial tip that led to Williams’ arrest. The person had watched a video featuring a local news story about the shooting and noticed that Williams was still at large. They contacted the police department, which then worked with the U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend Williams in Mexico.

Williams is currently being held without bond in the Pinellas County Jail, facing charges for his heinous crime. While justice has finally been served, the victim’s family will never be able to bring back their loved one who was taken from them too soon.
