Coca-Cola Femsa has resumed distribution of its products in southern Morelos, after suspending activities almost three months ago due to harassment by organized crime in the region.
According to the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor (SDEyT) in the state, José Víctor Sánchez Trujillo, Femsa has already resumed operations in the municipality of Puente de Ixtla.
This occurred after a meeting in which executives of the soft drink company participated with Governor Margarita Sarabia and the local Secretary of Security, Miguel Ángel Urrutia.
According to Sánchez Trujillo, at the meeting a report was presented on the events that occurred and the actions that were taken so that on December 5, the company can resume work in the area.
“Distribution and supply are already normalizing,” said the official.
It should be remembered that last September, Femsa announced that it would suspend activities in Puente de Ixtla, due to harassment against workers at the company’s plant in the municipality.
In this regard, it was learned that employees were kidnapped to steal their merchandise, in addition to being subject to extortion by criminal groups and criminal cells.
In this regard, Jaime “N”, alias “La Parka”, was arrested in mid-November, accused of the crime of aggravated extortion against Femsa workers and identified as the leader of informants for La Familia Michoacana in Morelos.
Likewise, at least four homes and three premises linked to “La Parka” were searched in the southern part of the state, where Jaime “N” maintained the extortion network for irregular charges against the soft drink company.
