Mayor Claudia Agatón announced that the Ensenada-San Diego Ferry will begin operations on Monday, March 31, 2025, offering a new transportation alternative for residents who travel daily between the two cities.
This means of transportation will significantly reduce travel time, going from the current four or five hours by road to just 2 hours and 5 minutes. It is expected that it will initially be used by about 300 people a day, with fares of $70 for a one-way trip and $130 for a round trip.
Agatón explained that this project seeks to benefit the 684 people who cross the Ensenada-San Diego ferry every day to work, a figure that she did not know before taking office. In addition, she noted that negotiations are ongoing with the federal government to avoid the application of the $42 tax for cruise ship passengers, given that the ferry is located on the border strip.
