Local deputy Timoteo Vázquez Cruz reported that a reform has been implemented to the Traffic, Mobility and Road Law, which prohibits any traffic police from retaining licenses, registration cards, plates or vehicles from citizens who break the law.

This measure seeks to combat corruption and guarantee the rights of citizens. With the publication of this reform in the Official Gazette, citizens can defend themselves from the constant operations carried out during the Christmas season.

It is only necessary to show the printed or digital publication to the traffic officers. The right to be dispossessed of one’s property is inalienable, and in case of abuse of authority, proceedings may be taken against the officer.

This reform is an important step towards transparency and justice in the application of the traffic law in Oaxaca, said the local deputy.
