Querétaro will prioritize infrastructure maintenance in 2025

During 2025, the Querétaro Municipal Public Works Secretariat will focus on the maintenance of existing public infrastructure, leaving new constructions in the background within the Annual Work Plan (POA). This was reported by Francisco Villegas Solís, head of the department. This measure responds to the “Order Plan”, a strategy promoted by Mayor Felifer Macías, which seeks to optimize the use of public resources and ensure that the actions carried out have a long-term impact.

According to Villegas Solís, the main objective is to avoid works that are useless in the future. However, the secretary clarified that new infrastructure projects are contemplated. To define them, starting January 1, a citizen consultation will be carried out that will allow the priority needs of the population to be identified.

With this information, the POA will be structured, which must be ready for presentation in the first half of the year. Regarding available resources, Villegas Solís mentioned that 1.5 billion pesos were allocated to public works in 2024, and a similar amount is expected for next year. However, the final budget must be approved in a City Council session.
