Corruption of minors and persons deprived of their liberty reaches historic figures in Nuevo León during 2024

Another crime that marked a milestone in the incidence of crime in Nuevo León during 2024 was the corruption of minors or persons deprived of their will.

This after accumulating a total of 249 investigation files in the first 11 months of the year.

While the record of cases for a period of this type was held in 2022 with 236 crimes of corruption of minors or persons deprived of their will.

That year, the figures from the state Attorney General’s Office show, ended with 252 cases, that is, only three more than in the eleven months of the current year.

A fact to consider is that for the third consecutive year in Nuevo León, the number of crimes of corruption of minors has exceeded 200, after the 252 in 2022, the 243 in 2023, and now the 249 in eleven months of 2024.

Prior to that, except in 2011, which had 74 crimes, the number of cases reported to the authorities was between 114 and 190.

From 2008 to November 2024, there have been 2,796 crimes of corruption of minors or persons deprived of their will in Nuevo León.

This is after the 149 cases in 2008, the 129 in 2009, the 133 in 2010, the 74 in 2011, the 114 in 2015 and the 114 in 2016, the 152 in 2014, the 181 in 2015.

As well as the 190 in 2016, the 162 in 2017, the 160 in 2018, the 173 in 2019, the 166 in 2020, the 155 in 2021, the 252 in 2022, the 243 in 2023 and the 249 in 2024.

According to the state authority, the monthly breakdown of this crime shows that in the month of January, 199 cases were reported. 25 cases, on February 20, March 27, April 17, May 18, June 13, July 28, August 20, September 26, October 28, and November 27.

Article 196 of the Nuevo Leon Penal Code explains that “the crime of corruption of minors or of persons deprived of their will is committed by anyone who carries out any of the following acts with a minor or a person deprived of their will, respectively: procures or facilitates any sexual disorder; procures or facilitates depravation.

“Or, induce, incite, supply or promote the use of psychoactive, toxic substances or those containing narcotics or psychotropic drugs, drunkenness, smoking, or the use of inhalant devices containing nicotine, to form part of a gang, criminal group or group, to commit a crime, or begging,” states the official content, among other things.
