The Navy (Semar), through the Third Naval Region, has launched the operation “Lifeguard, Winter 2024”, a security strategy that will run until January 8, 2025, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of national and international vacationers who visit Tabasco’s tourist destinations during the holiday season.
This operation is part of the Navy Plan, a comprehensive device that is carried out in various parts of the country, especially in the areas of greatest tourist influx.
The operation includes a significant deployment of human and material resources. In total, 34 naval elements, including high-ranking and operational personnel, will participate in the security device. In addition, five patrol and rescue units will be launched, including an Ocean Patrol vessel, four smaller vessels, two jet skis and land vehicles.
This specialized team has the mission of safeguarding human life at sea, providing support in emergencies and offering continuous surveillance in risk areas. One of the main focuses of attention will be surveillance on the beaches, where the presence of bathers and tourists increases significantly during the December holidays. In addition, first aid stations will be established in various areas to provide first aid in case of accidents or medical emergencies. Safety recommendations to enjoy the beaches with peace of mind The Navy has issued a series of recommendations so that vacationers can enjoy the beaches safely:
Always respect the instructions of the lifeguards.
Keep children under constant supervision while they are on the beach.
Avoid swimming after having eaten or consumed alcoholic beverages.
Try to swim in supervised areas and near lifeguard stations.
Do not swim in areas with maritime traffic, such as areas with boats or jet skis.
In smaller boats, verify that they are not overloaded and require the use of life jackets appropriate for each person.
Do not block access to the beaches to allow the passage of patrols and ambulances.
Use sunscreen and stay hydrated during your stay on the beach.
Do not throw garbage in coastal areas and beaches.
Likewise, the Harbor Master’s Office will be responsible for marking the safety levels at sea with flags: green (safe for bathers), yellow (caution due to sea currents) and red (no entry into the sea).
