The National Guard reported the confiscation of two fake patrol cars from the federal security agency in the state of Nuevo León.
The corporation, which is dependent on the National Defense Secretariat (Defense), indicated in a statement that the two cloned Charger vehicles were located on the Mexico 57 highway, Matehuala-Saltillo section, in the municipality of Galeana.
Their location was made within the framework of the application of the “Balam Strategy” in the state of Nuevo León, as well as research and intelligence work by the National Guard.
The first discovery was recorded on the aforementioned highway, where a male person was also arrested; the second vehicle was located further ahead, hidden among the undergrowth in the area.
Both units were not registered with the National Guard nor did they have the characteristics of official vehicles, so it is estimated that they could be used by organized crime to commit criminal acts on federal roads.
The two apparent Radio Patrol Cars (CRP) had fake beacons that simulated belonging to the National Guard, therefore, the agency indicated that it maintains surveillance on the highway sections to prevent theft from transporters and safeguard the integrity of users of the highway sections.
