The hotel chain, which was founded in the United States, currently has hotels in more than 16 countries and arrived in San Miguel 13 years ago; it is planned that two more will open in 2025: one in Mexico City and another in the Riviera Maya.
A mix of colonial style and luxury
The Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel de Allende is the only one in the chain that is not located on a beach, and upon its arrival in San Miguel in 2007, it raised the prices of the properties around it, turning the area of Benito Juárez Park and surrounding streets into one of the areas with the highest added value in the city.
The Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel de Allende is the only one in the chain that is not located on a beach.
Its design is extremely attractive for tourists and visitors, as the rooms are out of the ordinary by having independent doors, as if each one of them were a house in the central area of San Miguel de Allende, mixing the exclusivity that characterizes the hotel with the colonial character of San Miguel.
Additionally, the hotel has received several awards, one of them for being the “Best Hotel in Ciudad Colonial”, awarded by Food & Travel magazine.
Who is the owner?
Originally the hotel was owned by a group of investors from the Rosewood Hotel Group, headed by John M. Scott III and Caroline Hunt. However, in 2012 it was bought by businessman José Antonio Alonso Espinosa, grandson of the former director of Bancomer, Manuel Espinosa Yglesias.
Although the hotel is managed by the Rosewood Group, which gives it that similarity with the service of the rest of the hotels in the same chain, the owner is José Antonio Alonso Espinosa.
The Rosewood Hotel is also an important source of employment for more than 200 San Miguel residents, and has positioned itself as a company with a high sense of social responsibility.
