Two dead after collision between truck and van on Puebla-Orizaba highway

Two people were killed and extensive material damage was the result of a rear-end collision on the Puebla-Orizaba highway. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning and caused the partial closure of the toll road.
According to the corresponding report, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. at kilometer 178+600, before reaching the entrance to Quecholac in the direction of Puebla, when a tractor-trailer transporting cement had its box detached.

The above caused the construction dust to spread and leave a thick layer of fog, which in turn impeded visibility and caused a 3.5-ton truck and a wagon to collide.

Motorists who were driving through the area noticed the accident and immediately requested the presence of emergency services to provide assistance to the injured, so paramedics from Caminos y Puentes Federales (CAPUFE) arrived at the site, who provided care to the injured, but unfortunately two people lost their lives at the site.

Traffic remained partially closed due to the cleanup work carried out by CAPUFE, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrived at the site to remove the bodies, although the identity of the deceased was reserved.

CAPUFE reported through its X account that around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, traffic was restored on the Puebla-Orizaba highway, although with vehicle loads, so road authorities asked drivers to take extreme caution when driving through the area.
