The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, along with representatives from the tourism sector and business chambers, conducted a promotional tour in Durango Capital. They invited Durango residents to enjoy Mazatlán’s beaches, artistic, and cultural events.
Meeting at the Francisco Villa Museum with Durango’s Secretary of Tourism, Elisa María Haro, Sosa Osuna emphasized the strong bond between Durango and Mazatlán. She highlighted that Mazatlán is considered the beach and second home for Durango residents.
Sosa Osuna showcased Mazatlán’s attractions, including the Malecón, Marina, Golden Zone, and its gastronomy. She also mentioned new attractions like the National Whale Museum, the Farolesa, the Observatory, and Shekinah Beach Club.
Addressing road safety concerns, Sosa Osuna highlighted the joint efforts of the three levels of government to ensure security at strategic points on the road. She reassured visitors of their safety while traveling to Mazatlán.
December is a peak season for foreign tourists in Mazatlán, especially from the United States and Canada, due to direct flights. The city has received 118 tourist cruises this winter and recently welcomed its 1.8 millionth passenger at the airport with a carnival celebration.
Elisa María Haro noted that Sinaloa represents 20% of Durango’s annual visitors. She emphasized the importance of tourism for employment in both states and the need for joint efforts to promote their destinations.
