A 24-year-old man, identified as José Cruz “C,” was found murdered on Thursday morning in El Quemadillo, south of Culiacán, Sinaloa. The murder has caused a stir, as unofficial sources revealed that the victim was the nephew of the infamous drug trafficker Amado Carrillo Fuentes, known as “El Señor de los Cielos,” who led the Juárez Cartel at its peak.
José Cruz’s body was discovered around 5:30 a.m. on the side of the highway connecting to El Quemadillo, in the Costa Rica jurisdiction of Culiacán. The victim, who lived in Navolato, was allegedly kidnapped before being executed, as suggested by the circumstances of the discovery.
State Preventive Police responded to the report, finding the young man lying on the Culiacán-Eldorado highway, in front of an agricultural business. The body had bullet wounds in the back and head, and multiple large-caliber spent shells were found around the scene, indicating the violence of the crime.
Relatives of the victim arrived at the scene, shocked by the news. While the motives behind the homicide have not been confirmed, speculation suggests a possible link to Amado Carrillo Fuentes and the Juárez Cartel. The murder of José Cruz “C” adds to the growing wave of violence in Sinaloa, related to disputes within organized crime, affecting both direct victims and their families.
