The Chiapas government is preparing a security strategy to enter, with the accompaniment of the armed forces, the municipalities of the border regions, Sierra and Frailesca of the state, ravaged by the violence of organized crime, where gangs are fighting for territory, informed the governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar.
“We are going to go to the rescue of these towns, we will arrive to take control of the capitals. There will be difficult times and perhaps hours, yes there will be moments of risk, there is risk for us, but I assure you that there is more risk for them; we will arrive with the full weight of the law,” said the governor when commemorating the Day of the Police.
The towns of the Frontera, Sierra and Frailesca regions of Chiapas have lived for more than three years in uncertainty over the control of the trafficking routes maintained by organized crime groups, whose extreme violence and trail has left dozens of murders, disappearances, forced displacements and extortions.
“I am not here to play, I am here to govern, and governing means applying the law,” said Ramírez Aguilar after announcing that he will increase the salaries of police officers by 40 percent, in addition to giving them a monthly bonus for performance and improving health, social assistance and housing conditions, and implementing a scholarship system for their sons and daughters.
“Enough! Using women, children, elderly people and innocent men as hostages to cover up illegal activities; these conflicts and confrontations do not belong to the people, that is not the struggle of the people,” he said, referring to the constant blockades and the seizure of communication routes.
The governor sent a message to the residents of the border, the Sierra and the Frailesca, where, upon learning of the arrival of a special operation today, they reported on social networks “the cockroach effect.”
He told the residents: “You are not alone, you have us and it is time to assume a responsible conduct, let us do our work,” he urged.
Recognizing the violence and questioning why a minority has us subjugated and held hostage, Eduardo Ramírez declared: “It hurts me a lot, it hurts me and offends me when people disappear. Yes, it offends me, but I have been at the head of the State Government for fifteen days, fifteen days giving results from the first minute, from the first day.
“I no longer want there to be missing relatives in their communities, in their colonies, we want our roads to be free again. We want our peasants, our farmers to return to their lands to take care of their plots, to take care of their cornfields, to go and take care of their animals and not be under the fear that if they do not do the blockade, they will be fined, they will be shot and what is worse, sometimes even killed.”
State police commanders were at the service of crime: Governor
Eduardo Ramírez made an unprecedented statement, in addition to acknowledging the violence in those three regions of Chiapas.
He stated that the state police commanders were at the service of crime. “And who are those who gave them the orders? The commanders, it must be said.”
He commented that during the campaign the police officers who approached him to tell him that they were not causing harm to the population, “are our bosses. They acted many times and grabbed the phone and told them, -get out of there, don’t get involved, or is that not the case?”.
His statement was confirmed by the hundreds of uniformed officers present at the event where the work of the troops was recognized. “Yes,” chanted the police officers who broke into applause. “I’m not telling lies,” added the governor.
He added: “It is over, that is part of the past, we will have an upright police force, because the troops have always been upright, they have been honorable.”
Finally, he reported that he instructed the Secretary of Security, Oscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, to begin operations to restore peace. And, on the other hand, that the Police Training Institute be the University of Public Security.
“From there they will come out with academic content, with self-defense, with training in the use of weapons, with legal knowledge of respect for human rights.”
