Probability of snowfall will continue in Pico de Orizaba and Cofre de Perote; complete forecast

The conditions for fog, drizzle and isolated rain will continue between today and tomorrow, December 24 (Christmas Eve) in the state, mainly in mountainous regions, without omitting the probability of sleet in the high parts of Pico de Orizaba and Cofre de Perote, according to the meteorologist of the Civil Protection Secretariat, José Llanos Arias.

Even yesterday, the first snowfall of the winter season was recorded in Cofre de Perote and it is not ruled out that there will be frost in mountainous areas during the night and early morning.

The temperature of the last 24 hours was 16.4 degrees in Xalapa; 27.5 in Boca del Río and 21.6 in Orizaba, according to the Meteorological Observatories of Conagua.

The state woke up today, December 23, with cloudy skies, fog or mist and possible drizzle in the central area and Los Tuxtlas region.

Meanwhile, the environment in the northern and southern regions is clear to partly cloudy, as reported.

In Xalapa, dense fog is recorded this morning and it is therefore recommended to take precautions when driving, says the SPC.

For the next 24 hours, it is considered that the maximum temperature will have little change or will increase gradually.

It is also expected that a cool to cold environment will continue at night and early morning with probable frost in high areas.

It is even insisted that the potential for rain will decrease, with the maximum accumulated in central basins.

The probability of snowfall or sleet in Pico de Orizaba and Cofre de Perote remains, as well as fog.

The SPC adds that the forecast models indicate that for the next seven days the average temperature will be equal to normal and accumulated rainfall will be less than or equal to the average.

In addition, it reiterates that the climate models indicate that for the remainder of December the average temperature could be slightly above normal and with accumulated rainfall less than or equal to the average.
