A foreign tourist has expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceives as “abuses” in Tulum’s tourist services, Quintana Roo.

In a video that quickly went viral, a tourist, possibly of Venezuelan origin, complained about the new rates for accessing the archaeological zone and the beaches of Jaguar National Park in Tulum. He also criticized the rude treatment he received while trying to access these attractions.

The tourist highlighted the excessive charges he had to pay to enter Jaguar National Park. He mentioned that payments were required by different entities, including the military and other organizations, without a unified price for accessing the park.

He also criticized the additional fee demanded for bringing his camera, calling it an abuse. “How is it possible that I have to pay a tax for bringing my camera to take photos? It’s my camera, my equipment,” he said.

Frustrated by the mistreatment from National Guard agents at the park entrance, the tourist declared, “I’m not coming back.”

New Access Rates

Starting December 4, 2024, the new rates for accessing Jaguar National Park, the archaeological zone, and the beaches in Tulum are as follows:

– 45 pesos for visitors from Quintana Roo

– 195 pesos for national tourists

– 295 pesos for foreign tourists

Additionally, each visitor must pay 61 pesos to CONANP and another 95 pesos to access the archaeological zone. CONANP, GAFSACOMM, and INAH are working on a unified fee, but until then, tourists must make separate payments and wear both bracelets.
