Due to its connectivity and urban infrastructure, Tampico will be the administrative headquarters of several companies related to the exploration and exploitation of oil fields in deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, one of which is working in this way in the city, awaiting the arrival of more.
Representatives of the Italian company BHP met with local authorities, highlighting the urban advantages offered by Tampico and the region, a situation that is being capitalized on for the generation of jobs.
With an investment of 300 million pesos, the project will generate 150 jobs in its construction, 100 indirect jobs and more in operation.
The city of Tampico offers air connectivity to the Federal District, Monterrey and Houston, Texas, from where flights can be connected to various regions of the world, in addition to having two high-sea ports such as Tampico and Altamira, as well as a railway to the north and center of the country.
The president of the Council of Business Institutions of Southern Tamulipas (CIEST), Eduardo Manzur Manzur, called on local businessmen to capitalize on this trend by offering professional services in order to properly complement the operation of international consortia that have set their sights on this region.
In this sense, he stated that it is up to local companies to train themselves in all aspects in order to ensure that services are of quality, facilitating the supply of materials for companies to keep the regional economy active.
“If we train ourselves, an aspect that many have already done and on which the state government is also promoting, the possibilities of creating virtuous circles will be greater and will translate into a higher quality of life for all,” said the president of CIEST, indicating that the advantages of Tampico and the southern area should be taken advantage of for the good of all.
She considered the perception of security in the area to be positive, which will encourage the arrival of more companies and motivate the authorities to develop more infrastructure that is really needed to support regional growth.
For her part, the mayor, Magdalena Peraza Guerra, pointed out that the growth in urban infrastructure in Tampico and the perception of security are factors that motivate the arrival of international consortia.
