Collection of tariffs on textiles will benefit Durango, says businessman

Gerardo Flores Haro, president of Durango Textil Asociados (DUTEXA), applauds the decision taken by the federal government regarding the collection of tariffs on the textile industry.

“This decision creates a level playing field and protects national producers in some way, by having a more equal competition in the tariff issue,” added the businessman.

Flores Haro said that “after an eight-month decline, the textile industry in Mexico has finally turned to face us.”

He also explained that if more measures of this type are taken, the textile industry (not only in Durango, but throughout Mexico) could have even better results.

He also added that it will be a fair competition, which will help local producers to position their products and avoid the closure of companies, since the last few months have been difficult for the sector.
