In Querétaro, 5 deaths have been registered and there are 2,847 positive cases of dengue, reported the Ministry of Health, calling on the population to redouble preventive measures in the face of these numbers.

According to the data as of December 31, 2024, 1,691 were infections in women and 1,156 in men. Of the registered cases, 2,196 are non-severe dengue, 588 cases with dengue with warning signs and 63 cases with severe dengue.

The municipalities with the highest number of cases are Querétaro with 1,420, Peñamiller with 459 and Tolimán with 263, and the registered deaths correspond to one in Peñamiller, one in Querétaro and three in Tolimán.

Therefore, the importance of eliminating all types of mosquito breeding sites, protecting oneself from bites and seeking timely medical attention in the event of symptoms was highlighted.

Dengue symptoms include fever, intense headache, nausea and/or vomiting, general malaise, muscle or joint pain, pain behind the eyes and rash. In severe cases, intense abdominal pain, fatigue, persistent or bloody vomit, drowsiness and bleeding from the gums and nose, urine or excrement may occur.

Likewise, the agency asked the population to allow access to health personnel to carry out epidemiological control and surveillance actions.

Among the recommendations issued are:

I. Eliminate mosquito breeding sites in the following way: Wash with soap and a brush or sponge buckets, sinks, water tanks, cisterns, flower vases and any container that can store water, on all surfaces that have had contact with water. Cover all containers that store water for consumption or other activities. Wash and change the water in containers within seven days. Turn over all containers that can accumulate water so that they stay dry. Also, perforate flower pots to prevent them from accumulating water. Throw away bottles, tires, cans and other containers that can accumulate water and are no longer used.

II. Protect yourself from mosquito bites: Wear long sleeves and pants, preferably light-colored. Place mosquito nets on doors and windows. Apply insect repellent to the skin. Place canopies for beds. At nightfall, close doors and windows and do not sleep outdoors. When traveling to places where the presence of dengue is suspected, wear closed shoes and take extreme precautions.

III. Collaborate with health services and the community in mosquito elimination and control activities.

IV. If you have symptoms: Do not self-medicate, go to the nearest health center, drink plenty of water, rest and follow medical instructions.
