With the aim of reactivating the economy of the state of Sinaloa, the government of the district has delivered more than 135 million pesos seeking the benefit of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MiPyME), especially in the center and south of the state.
The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, said that the commitment of the state administration is to support entrepreneurs to overcome the challenges they face, in order to rebuild the business fabric and strengthen the state’s economic recovery, for which he called on people to continue their activity.
This call is made in the context of a strong wave of violence that has spread throughout the state, derived from the clashes of the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, which began after the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada by US authorities on July 25, 2024.
The State Government has the obligation to generate conditions so that the different activities are carried out, as best as they should be, in a circumstance towards normality,” he said.
Likewise, he detailed that initiatives such as direct economic support have been deployed, in addition to providing measures in fiscal policy, surcharges, efforts have been made before social security and other agencies, in order to generate better conditions for the business sector and added that constant attention meetings are held with business organizations. “There is initiative. There is policy. There are actions” said the state spokesman.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Government of Sinaloa, Feliciano Castro Meléndrez, announced that the state administration continues to work together with the chambers of commerce to counteract the economic effects caused by the recent episodes of violence in the state.
He stressed that specific measures have been implemented to support affected entrepreneurs and promote economic recovery:
“We have made decisions to improve the conditions of entrepreneurs, from financial support to measures related to fiscal policies, seeking to alleviate the economic burden and guarantee the continuity of commercial activities in the region,” said the official.
IHOP closes due to violence in Culiacán
The violence that mainly ravages the Sinaloa municipality of Culiacán has forced many businesses to close, seriously affecting violence in the state in general. This is the case of the IHop restaurant chain, which announced this week its closure in the state, stating that the decision was motivated by the “growing insecurity in our city.”
Through its Facebook account, the restaurant announced its decision, seeking to prioritize the safety of workers and customers. It also assured that they could resume operations if “circumstances improve” within the territory, without disclosing an approximate date for when this will occur.
