Despite the announcement of the temporary suspension of the waste collection service, the staff of the Cleaning Department worked during the first day of the year to deal with the accumulations of garbage caused by the irresponsibility of some citizens who ignored the instructions and took their waste out to the streets.
The Cleaning team was dedicated to removing waste in the public areas of the downtown area, thus guaranteeing a pleasant image for the thousands of visitors who came to San Cristóbal de Las Casas to celebrate the beginning of 2025.
With these actions, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to maintaining cleanliness and caring for the environment, reminding the population of the importance of following the recommendations to prevent situations like this from affecting the image of the city and the quality of life of its inhabitants.
Citizens are called upon to collaborate in keeping the streets clean, respecting the schedules and instructions of the collection service.
