This Sunday morning, members of the Regulations area of the Government of Zihuatanejo, confiscated baskets with vegetables, carts, boxes and furniture from semi-permanent vendors located on the outskirts of the Municipal Market.
It was around 10:00 a.m. when two vans with members of the aforementioned Directorate began to load the belongings of the vendors who for years have offered their products on Naranjos and Cocos streets in the Center.
Although the previous administration had applied the “Free Pass” program, the presence of semi-permanent vendors had been allowed in exchange for a provisional permit that is paid every six months or annually, as long as schedules and cleanliness were respected, in addition to not increasing the limits established for sales.
However, on this day, an operation was applied that the vendors pointed out as unfair, since they did not confiscate many other businesses and vendors who also invade public roads.
The vendors, mostly women, lamented that all their belongings were taken from them, with which they seek to support their low-income families.
