Escalating Violence in Tabasco: Policeman Abducted Amid Chaos

The wave of violence that began on New Year’s Eve in Tabasco continued with the burning of a convenience store on the outskirts of Villahermosa this morning. Among the weekend’s violent episodes was the abduction of a policeman in Macuspana.

The bloodshed started last night when armed men entered the Azul bar in the Tamulté neighborhood of Villahermosa and opened fire on patrons, killing five and wounding seven. One of the injured later died at the hospital, bringing the total number of victims to six.

Gruesome Discoveries and Arson

On Sunday morning, the body of a woman showing signs of violence was found in a black bag at the “El Aguacate” entrance of the Oriente ranch in Comalcalco. Additionally, a van was set on fire in Paraíso in front of a social events hut, with unknown assailants unloading firearms on it.

Federal Response to Violence

Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch reported that the Federal security cabinet remains in close coordination with Tabasco authorities following the armed attack at the Azul bar. He addressed the violent events on his social media, emphasizing the collaboration between federal and state security institutions to clarify the incidents.

Convenience Store Fire

In the early hours of today, a fire broke out at the ‘Circle K’ store on the Teapa-Villahermosa federal highway near the Las Mercedes subdivision. The fire, which occurred after 2 a.m., consumed the entire establishment. Firefighters managed to control the flames, and no injuries were reported.

Policeman Abducted in Macuspana

In Macuspana, the hometown of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a municipal police officer was abducted by armed civilians this morning. Initial reports indicate that three individuals in a red vehicle kidnapped Miguel López Zacarias, a 45-year-old active police officer. Carlos Enrique Arellano Guzmán was injured in the incident and taken to the regional hospital, while López Zacarias’ 15-year-old son, who was with him, was unharmed.
