A variety of top electronic music artists will kick off 2025 with performances in Tulum, offering an immersive experience in nature.
The shows will take place at “Tehmplo,” a jungle venue located south of Tulum’s hotel zone on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula.
The first event was held on January 5, featuring Michael Bibi and Maceo Plex, along with Maga, Metrika, and Hank. On January 9, Bosnian-German DJ Solomun will perform at the venue, which can accommodate up to 9,000 fans.
The Day Zero festival will follow on January 11 at “Cenote Dos Ojos,” with performances by Adam Ten, Airrica, Anthony Middleton, Cole Knight, Fatboy Slim, Francesca Lombardo, Mëstiza, Patrick Mason, and Sonja Moonear, among others. The festival is also expected to draw 9,000 attendees.
Organizers aim to create immersive experiences by blending art, music, and nature. Yalia Bailleres, head of operations and partner at Lostnights, explained:
“For Day Zero, we are already in the fourteenth edition, and Tehmplo is in its third year. The Riviera Maya has been a key stop for world electronic music for over a decade, offering a range of music artists, visuals, and performers. It’s a must-visit for electronic music lovers, much like Ibiza in the summer in Europe, Tulum is in January year after year.”
Bailleres highlighted Tulum’s appeal to visitors, noting that people plan not only to attend events but also to enjoy the beach, dive, snorkel, visit cenotes, and explore the local gastronomy.
With the addition of Tulum airport and the Mayan Train station, the destination is now more accessible to both international and national visitors.
The musical festivities also emphasize sustainability and community support. Bailleres stated:
“We work year-round on various activities, including waste separation with certified companies, beach clean-ups, and reforestation. We aim to minimize our impact and show gratitude and respect for the community that allows us to host these events.”
Ecologically, they protect turtles by building cages for safe spawning. Socially, they support the local children’s soccer team and provide employment to area residents. The events feature both international and emerging national artists, promoting cultural exchange and unique experiences.
Bailleres concluded by emphasizing the importance of women’s contributions to the music industry and the inclusion of sustainable and social causes. She noted that the responsibility of creating events that respect the space and community helps everyone grow as individuals.
Lostnights Events has developed Day Zero in Tulum and other international events such as Get Lost in Miami, New York, Mexico City, Montenegro, and Art Basel. They also produced shows for Armando Manzanero in Chichen Itza and Emmanuel and Mijares in Las Vegas.
