Following the disappearance of a Venezuelan monk in San Miguel de Allende, where he currently resided, corporations from that district collaborated with state security institutions to locate Brother Santiago, as he is commonly known and who was reported to have left his home on January 6th and not returned.
The Monk was found
Brother Santiago, whose secular name is José Federico Antonio, was found in good health and in good spirits in the Cruz de Palmar Church, where he was in the company of the local priest.
Until now, the reasons for leaving his home at 4am on January 6th are unknown.
During the search, the capital’s SIMUB Fire Department added its R-13 unit and K9 specimens to successfully deploy after a call for support.
In an interview, Rafael Iztayul Zamudio Hernández, Chief Commander of SIMUB Firefighters, explained that it was San Miguel de Allende on behalf of Civil Protection and Firefighters who requested the R-13 Unit as well as canine elements to a location in the monastery where Brother Santiago came from.
“We joined the search and rescue efforts for this person and we were there from the evening when he was found during the early morning in a nearby community in Atotonilco in a chapel” he pointed out.
For the SIMUB corporation, it is common to work through the Municipal Search Cell and in which the Attorney General’s Office is also involved to have good results when they are required, commented Iztayul Zamudio.
“SIMUB Firefighters have four teams that are always attentive to alerts in case they are required to search for living people” concluded Zamudio Hernández.
