Querétaro’s mayor, Felifer Macías, announced the construction of the first free public bathrooms in the city, located on Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera Street, near the corner with Venustiano Carranza, in the Historic Center. These spaces will be intended for men, women, and non-binary people, and are expected to be operational in March of this year.

Although operating hours have not yet been defined, the mayor noted that the goal is for the bathrooms to be available most of the day. The project will be carried out in a building that is currently used by the Municipal Guard as a materials warehouse, but which is planned to be released shortly for this new function. 5 million pesos have been allocated for this first phase, and the mayor announced that the municipality plans to open another five similar public bathrooms in the Historic Center during 2025.

Macías also recalled that this initiative is part of a package of 17 works that the city council is executing, with a total investment of 160 million pesos, aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the capital.
