At least four agents of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of the municipality of Tijuana, Baja California, allegedly entered a house to rob, after blocking the entrance and even jumping over the fence.

The incident occurred on December 20, 2024 in Villa Floresta and the people involved were captured on security camera videos, which were released on social media.

The images show the arrival of a patrol car to the site with the lights on, and it takes advantage of the fact that a delivery man leaves to position itself in the area of the electric gate, to prevent it from closing and it is even noted how the mechanism remains active and constantly hits the unit.

Then the subjects get out of the patrol car and put on hoods. After a few seconds they decide to climb over the fence and, once inside, they remove one of the surveillance cameras.

According to local media in Tijuana, the victim stated that her vehicle, money, clothes, jewelry and perfumes were stolen; He also said that the complaint had already been filed with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Baja California (FGE).

Juan Manuel Sánchez Rosales, head of the Secretariat, confirmed that they are agents, but emphasized that they are analyzing the respective videos, as he declared in a press conference regarding the case.

“We are analyzing it in two aspects: the first, by our Intelligence Analysis area, to validate the metadata that allows us to locate in time and form where the video occurred. From this, we can determine the unit number and the clear factions of the elements. At first, if you observe it, the unit and the factions of the elements are not identified, there is no doubt that they are municipal elements, that is true,” he said.

He added that they have preliminary information on where the robbery could have occurred and who could be involved, but he must make a reservation since they have an investigation file and the fact that they are working with the FGE.

After the case became known, the president of the Baja California Citizen Council for Public Security (CCSEBC), Roberto Quijano Sosa, described the incident as “regrettable.”

“It demonstrates the weakness of the police institutions, which the citizen organization has been insisting on. Regarding this incident, which was captured by security cameras installed in the affected home, the municipal authorities must act in an energetic and exemplary manner and neither this nor any other police abuse should go unpunished,” he said.
