Although the Mazatlan International Carnival will take place from February 27 to March 4, the atmosphere of this celebration was present this Sunday with the presentation of the song and video “Soy de Mazatlán”, the official theme of the biggest party in the city.
The song “Soy de Mazatlán” features Sergio Lizárraga’s Banda MS and Mazatlan tenor Carlos Osuna, while the video that was recorded last December at Paseo Olas, with the participation of the queens of the Mazatlan Carnival, was directed by designer Ocean Rodríguez.
Part of the song that will fill Mazatlan residents with pride goes like this:
“How could I not be a dancer, if I was born among the waves of the sea, I proudly say ‘I’m from here’ where life goes by without crying (…) Olas Altas, the most expensive view, a year of ‘frost’ on the boardwalk, I am a salty-headed woman and if I cause envy I ask for forgiveness.”
The perfect setting for the presentation of the song was the “Teodoro Mariscal” stadium, in the middle of the play-off series between Venados de Mazatlán and Tomateros de Culiacán.
Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez, the head of Culture Mazatlán, Raúl Rico González, Sergio Lizárraga, Alan Ramírez and Oswaldo Silvas, from Banda MS, the designer Ocean Rodríguez and Manuel Sánchez Villalpando “El Cuchupetas”, who participates in the music video, were present at the venue.

The current sovereigns of the party were also present, as well as candidates seeking the crown of the 2025 Carnival.
It should be noted that at the launch of the first ball of the game, a tribute was paid to María Sodelva Ríos Serrano, who has made the costumes of the Carnival royalty for more than 30 years.
The fifth inning of game 4 between Venados and Tomateros turned into a party with the presentation of the musical theme that made hundreds of fans dance in an atmosphere that already announced that the biggest party for Mazatlecos was approaching.
