Jarrad Gillespie, an American operating on the Tripadvisor platform with the company “Cozumel Cruise Excursions,” has been reported to the State Attorney General’s Office for fraud and threats against a Cozumel tour company owner. His mother-in-law, Brenda Salas, is also implicated.

According to investigation file 1944/2024, Gillespie defrauded the Cozumel company of over $95,000 by contracting services for tours, vehicles, ATVs, food, and snacks for his clients. The complainant, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims that Gillespie now resides in the United States with his wife, Jenifer Rodríguez Salas. They have allegedly made threatening calls and sent images of Gillespie with firearms.

The complaint states that Brenda Salas initially contacted the tour company for services. While the company initially paid its bills, it later only partially paid for services, accumulated debts, and eventually stopped paying altogether before fleeing to the United States.

The Prosecutor’s Office has issued notices for an arrest warrant. Gillespie, with the help of his wife and mother-in-law, has reportedly started a new company in Cozumel, continuing the same fraudulent practices and accumulating new debts with other local businesses.
