By February 6, eleven carnival puppets will be installed on the boardwalk and Plazuela Machado to herald the Mazatlán International Carnival 2025, set for February 27 to March 4 with the theme “The Pearl.”
These sea-inspired ephemeral artworks, a hallmark of the city, will be crafted in the Institute of Culture’s workshops by renowned artists such as Cuban Henry Wilson, Monterrey native Jorge González, Mazatlán’s own José Ángel Trujillo López, and Spaniard Juan José Boronat, known for their Ninots in Las Fallas de Valencia.
Installed by the CULTURE Operations team, the puppets aim to create a festive atmosphere, enchanting locals and visitors alike with their vibrant presence. They will enhance the city’s beauty and serve as a tourist attraction.
The puppets’ installation is a prelude to the Carnival, during which Mazatlán will transform into a lively stage for music, dancing, and joy, with the puppets standing as the celebration’s guardians.
