The overturning of a tractor-trailer carrying natural gas in containers caused the complete closure of the San Miguel de Allende to Doctor Mora highway, near the community of El Peñón.

The accident was reported at 8:00 a.m. and emergency units from the different corporations immediately went to the highway and closed vehicular traffic due to the gas leak from one of the containers.

At the scene, the presence of SMA Firefighters and Paramedics, Municipal Civil Protection, the Heroic Fire Department of San Miguel, the National Guard, the Mexican Army and Municipal Traffic was seen, who continue to respond to the overturning of a tractor-trailer carrying two containers with nine natural gas cylinders each. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported after the incident.

At the scene, the company in charge of the cylinders is already on site and is carrying out an exhaustive inspection to verify that there is no gas leak. The cylinder valves have been closed as a preventive safety measure.

In addition, the command post where efforts are coordinated by Municipal Civil Protection, the National Guard, the Mexican Army and firefighters from the different corporations, is in order to monitor the situation and ensure total control of the incident.

The heavy unit was left blocking the roads, which caused material damage and traffic delays for several hours.
Thanks to the specialized training of the staff in handling hazardous materials, precise security actions are being carried out, especially with regard to the surveillance of the natural gas cylinders.

The road will remain closed for a couple of additional hours while the security and recovery work of the crashed vehicle is completed. Drivers were asked to use alternate routes during this time and avoid the area of ​​the population, as well as maintain a safe distance from the affected area to allow the correct execution of the security maneuvers.
