In the first 70 days of the Municipal Government, 28 storm drains in various parts of the city have already been cleared as part of the goal established for the first phase of the administration.
This was highlighted by Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez, who said that this Thursday she went to Progreso Avenue in the Pradera Dorada subdivision to supervise the cleaning and clearing work in the storm drain.
She recalled that the goal to be met in the first 100 days of government was 15 kilometers of storm drains, and that is close to being achieved.
“Today (Thursday) we made a tour of the storm drains. We were in Pradera Dorada because we have a program where we proposed that in the first 100 days of government we are going to rehabilitate 15 kilometers of storm drains, and now, in less than 70 days we have already done 14 kilometers. This is very important for flood mitigation, and also to provide health conditions to the neighbors where the storm drains are located.”
The mayor announced that to date, the drains located next to San Rafael Avenue, the Pradera Dorada subdivision, in the Los Robles neighborhood, and the Mármol municipality, to name a few, have been cleaned and desilted.
Palacios Domínguez stressed that attention to the storm drains is not a task that is done only once, so this work will be continuous and will remain a strategic axis to protect the city from floods, with the commitment to maintain a clean and orderly Mazatlán.
During the tour, the mayor of Mazatlán was accompanied by the heads of Public Works, Civil Protection, and Public Services to verify the work
