The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving families and tourists without immediate rescue options. Passengers reported a lack of clear information about the situation, which heightened panic, especially among older adults and children. Some attempted to call 911 for help, but the incident fell outside the jurisdiction of local authorities.
Ultramar deployed support vessels to evacuate passengers, but the rescue maneuvers proved challenging.
As of now, Ultramar has not issued an official report on the incident, causing frustration among those affected. They are demanding clear answers and compensation for the risk they faced.
