On Thursday afternoon, the former councilor of Centro, Tabasco, Mario Peralta Jiménez, was shot dead. He was being pursued by armed men on a motorcycle after making a bank withdrawal.
The events occurred in the vicinity of the Jardines del Country subdivision, in the Tabasco capital, while the victim was traveling in a compact vehicle.
Mario Peralta was a PRI councilor during the administration of the former mayor of Centro, Jesús Alí de la Torre, and was currently a businessman dedicated to the sale of lemons that he harvested on his family’s ranches. Previously, he was the owner of a café in the city of Villahermosa.
According to witnesses, after the businessman arrived at the subdivision, the criminals caught up with him and snatched the bag with the withdrawn money, the amount of which is unknown at this time, and then shot him at point-blank range.
Social media users shared images of the victim, as well as the attackers, who fled on a motorcycle.
So far, the authorities have not commented on these events, although the area of the homicide has already been cordoned off for the removal of the body and the start of the respective investigation file.
