More than 14 million tourists visited Tamaulipas throughout 2024, which represents a new record for the state, with an outflow of more than 13 billion pesos, according to data from the State System of Tourist Influx of the Ministry of Tourism.
Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism in Tamaulipas, highlighted that Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya has become not only the best promoter of the state’s natural resources, but has also allocated resources to strengthen the tourist infrastructure and surveillance tasks have been redoubled to provide security to visitors.
He explained that the largest increase in visitors was recorded in Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero, with an increase of 355 percent compared to 2023.
Second place in growth was taken by Tampico with 160 percent; in third place Altamira with an increase of 83 percent and in fourth place the Magical Town of Tula with 82 percent.
Nuevo Laredo also increased the number of visitors by 61 percent and, in sixth place, the Magical Town of Mier with a growth of 52 percent, in contrast to the figures obtained in 2023.
Ciudad Madero alone, with Playa Miramar, received more than 3.1 million visitors, who as a family or in groups enjoyed the attention, services and warmth of the state.
In second place was Tampico with more than 1.5 million; in third place Tula, with more than 639 thousand visitors; in fourth place Altamira with more than 346 thousand and, in fifth place, Matamoros with more than 296 thousand.
