Los Angeles has been suffering for days from devastating fires that the United States authorities have not been able to stop and that have been overwhelmed by the unstoppable advance of the fire. For this reason, last week Claudia Sheinbaum announced the dispatch of Mexican firefighters to the affected area amid political controversies promoted by Donald Trump. This gesture has been well received among Americans.
Hundreds of houses have been left in ashes in Los Angeles on the west coast of the United States, where unstoppable fires have broken out, leaving a path of destruction, at least 11 dead, 13 missing and up to 180 thousand evacuated.
The main outbreaks include the fire in Palisades, the most destructive, which has consumed more than eight thousand 100 hectares, and the fire in Eaton, which has caused the death of five people and razed four thousand 289 hectares.
California fires have left 10 victims
During the “Mañanera del pueblo” on Friday, January 10, President Sheinbaum Pardo announced the dispatch of 74 elements specialized in civil protection and firefighting to help with the forest fires that are seriously affecting Los Angeles, California.
This aid left for California on Saturday morning, as reported by Sheinbaum Pardo through her X account. It is worth mentioning that the president sent aid not only out of solidarity with the United States, but in support of the millions of Mexicans who live in Los Angeles.
Americans show their gratitude
On social media, multiple American users showed their surprise and gratitude for the Mexican support in Los Angeles, where what was most appreciated was that regardless of the political context between both nations due to Donald Trump’s aggressive policy, Claudia Sheinbaum decided to send help in a show of international solidarity.
Many users expressed their gratitude directly to the Mexican government headed by Claudia Sheinbaum and to the firefighters and various security elements that went to the United States.
Others even expressed that the United States does not deserve to have neighbors like Mexico and Canada, since both nations sent help to Los Angeles despite the attacks of President-elect Donald Trump.
Finally, even the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, thanked the support of Claudia Sheinbaum’s government through his X account, “California is deeply grateful for the support of President @ClaudiaShein to fight the fires in Los Angeles.”
