Comalapa Border Transporters Resume Service After Suspension Due to Organized Crime

4

For more than two years, transporters in the Frontera Comalapa region have stopped circulating on the roads that connect Comitán de Domínguez with other municipalities in the Sierra de Chiapas, due to the increase in violence generated by organized crime. This criminal group forced drivers to pay a fee to be able to circulate on this important road. However, fortunately, transporters have announced the resumption of public service, inviting users to use public transportation again.

The owners of transport units from various organizations reported that they have already resumed service in different terminals in the municipal capital of Frontera Comalapa. The buses will travel on the roads that connect with Comitán, Motozintla, and other municipalities, communities and ejidos in the region. This has been possible thanks to the presence of the Pakal group, whose actions have managed to restore peace in the municipality, guaranteeing that the roads are safe for the circulation of public transportation units.

The drivers reported that the departure time of the units will be from Monday to Sunday, from 5 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. The terminals will open their doors at 4:30 in the morning. In addition, the fares are already established and are published in a visible document inside each unit, which guarantees transparency in the costs of the service.

Finally, they assured that the roads that connect the various municipalities, communities, ejidos and ranches of the region are safe, thanks to the coordination of the Pakal group with the Army and the National Guard. Therefore, they invited the inhabitants to travel on these roads without setbacks, going early to the terminals to take the units that will take them to the indicated destinations.
