FGR Targets “Los Mañé” Real Estate Cartel in Yucatán Amid Infonavit Corruption Scandal

Following revelations by Infonavit director Octavio Romero Oropeza about a corruption scheme within the Housing Institute, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is now investigating the “Mañé” Real Estate Cartel in Yucatán. At least 178 people have been affected by this alleged fraud.

Sources from the FGR have disclosed that Ricardo “M,” the alleged leader of the cartel, is under investigation for defrauding hundreds of beneficiaries in Yucatán. He allegedly exploited his son Cristian de Jesús “M,” who works in the credit department of Infonavit’s state delegation.

During a conference held by President Claudia Sheinbaum, Romero Oropeza revealed another corruption case involving a member of Infonavit’s highest governing body, who authorized 14 unfinished projects. Additionally, María “N” was implicated in multiple sales schemes in the State of Mexico, conducting appraisals for 27 transactions involving 11 homes.

The FGR’s investigation in Yucatán has uncovered that the “Mañé Cartel,” led by Ricardo “M” and his three sons, sold hundreds of homes multiple times in collusion with Infonavit officials. The fraud was executed through construction companies SUCOVISA and COMASA, owned by Moshé Álvaro, José Ricardo, and Cristian de Jesús Mañé Uribe. Cristian’s position in Infonavit’s credit department facilitated these irregularities.

Many SUCOVISA and COMASA projects were left unfinished, and hundreds of delivered homes lack basic services such as electricity, water, and drainage. The alleged fraud took place in 2021 across four subdivisions: Jerusalén Umán, Zoola de Umán, Bosques de Kanasín, and Luna Kin Hunucmá. Victims accepted mortgage loans ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 pesos, to be paid over 25 years, but they continue to make payments without access to their homes.

Ricardo Mañé Lara, the family patriarch, has also been linked to PRI political figures. A photograph on social media shows him with Alejandro “Alito” Moreno, the national leader of the PRI party.
