Playa del Carmen woke up to police mobilization after a human head and a narco-banner were discovered near the Forensic Medical Services (SEMEFO) morgue. The banner contained threats against Colombian loan sharks known as “Gota a Gota,” marking the first violent event of 2025.

The victim of this murder has not been identified, and the whereabouts of the torso remain unknown. It is suspected that the victim was a member of the “Gota a Gota” group, notorious for their aggressive and intimidating debt collection methods across Mexico and Central and South America.

Witnesses reported that the human head was left outside the municipal cemetery in Colonia Colosio, along with the threatening banner. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. when workers passing by the cemetery on 82nd Street, between 45th Avenue and Playa del Carmen Boulevard, called 911 after seeing the banner and the head.

Municipal Police quickly cordoned off the area and requested the intervention of experts from the State Attorney General’s Office to collect evidence. The scene remained under surveillance as authorities gathered the human remains and transported them to the SEMEFO facilities nearby to determine the circumstances of the homicide and identify the victim.
