The old railway station, located in the capital of Querétaro, reopened its doors to the public on December 20, after completing the restoration work on the building.
“It is now open. It opened on December 20 to the public and we will resume cultural activities within the old station. Although it is a work inherited from the previous administration, some details were missing for the official delivery, but it is now open. The approved 2025 budget includes the maintenance and restoration of the cultural heritage,” said the Secretary of Culture of the Municipality of Querétaro, Daniela Salgado Márquez.
The restoration project, started during the previous administration, had an investment of 16.8 million pesos, the interventions carried out included work on the ground floor, upper floor, attic, roofs and facades. In addition, the work included waterproofing, restoration of wooden and quarry elements, fumigation and repair of cracks.
With the restoration completed, the secretary reported that the space is now ready to receive the public and resume cultural activities. She also highlighted that within the budget approved for 2025 a special allocation was allocated for the ongoing maintenance and restoration of this historic building.
